Friday faves…

Friday faves…

1.) Just when I needed it most, wouldn’t you know a devotion with my Mary & Martha team and life verse. A gift this week for sure.

2.) A freshly coifed pooch. However, she misbehaves during grooming. I am seriously embarassed each and every time I pick her up.

Think of a dog “screaming”…

3.) We have started ordering from Walmart online with a doorstep delivery. It seriously rocks. All of those necessities? Delivered to your door and no chance to buy something you really don’t need.

4.) The prayer wall on display at the Mary & Martha home office. These are dreams each of us have that the home office staff prays for on a wall to see each time someone passes through. That is awesome.

5.) My girls do NOT like to be told they look like either Steve or I. I think it is quite funny when I receive texts like these. Ha!!

6.) Not sure this could describe me any better.

7.) When Dad cooks. Need I say more?

8.) Some of my peeps. Just because.

Linking up with Andrea and friends.

don’t drop the plate!!!!!

don’t drop the plate!!!!!

Natalie’s reaction to my dropping my brand new Melamine plate on our hard tile in the laundry room. Classic, I tell you!!

Pieces of the collection arrived yesterday and I was more than a bit giddy. Maybe not as giddy as Landon using it for the first time at breakfast yesterday…(the pancakes helped!)

You have two opportunities in the next week to see for yourself!!

And you can come to both—I would love it!!

And if you’re not local, message me your address and I’ll get your catalog in the mail…

Don’t forget to “LIkE” my business Facebook page to keep up to date on all happenings of Mary & Martha!!!

hold me accountable.

I will admit.  I love Mondays.  A fresh slate to begin the week.  Order comes after the chaos of the weekend (which don’t get me wrong–I LOVE as well).  But Mondays.  Starting fresh.  Organization or attempting organization returns.  Sometimes Mondays suck.  And sometimes it’s because of the new slate when I don’t want to let go of the old.

The same goes for the NEW YEAR which we are just embarking on.  Another fresh slate.  A time to re-evaluate–and let’s face it.  We all do.  Whether we want to admit it or not, we have resolutions, goals, dreams, whatever you want to call it, floating around in our heads.  And some of us put it down on paper.  Some of us never let it out.

There are so many parts to my own personal life I am evaluating.  Personal goals that don’t need to be shared.  Personal evaluations of different aspects of my life and where God is leading with each.  I can get very frustrated when I don’t have a clear path.  And right now, my path seems a bit blurry.

I just read in my Mary & Martha Heartlink (our consultant newsletter of sorts) a great little blurb from our Sales Director–a trusted mentor.  And wow, it spoke to me as it is January 14th and I am still wrestling with what I want my new year to accomplish.

From Kim Marquette~~

What if I did that? Actually learned from past years and made this one different?

The word new means fresh, recent, not habituated! Now there’s a word you don’t hear much in today’s conversation.

What will it mean to not habituate (use that at a party, 3 points for vocab!) your year? What habits will you say goodbye to today?

Remember an old habit must be replaced by a new habit. Otherwise the old habit weasels its way back into the comfort of the familiar.

How will you do to redefine & make NEW your year?

  1. Sit down for one hour and decide what you want to be true on December 31, 2015. One thing, two things, but no more than 3 things. Too many goals and none are achieved.
  2. Break down your goal into milestones (actions/events marking a significant change or stage in development).
  3. Share your goal and milestones (dates included) with a friend and ask her to hold you accountable.

Remember make sure your goal(s) is doable, measurable, and worth the effort.

Say goodbye to the old!

“Sit down and decide what I want to be true on December 31, 2015”

I love that.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am posting 365 Days of Joy.  JOY.  My word for the year.  Not my goal—but my aspiration to find JOY in each day.  Amazing to me the very little things I take for granted.  The JOY that is represented in each facet of my life is right there in front of me to see each and every day.  It’s recognizing it that is hard.  So I am being very intentional in finding JOY.

But what do I want to have accomplished by December 31, 2015?

FREEDOM.  I want freedom to do the things I need to do for myself, Steve, the kids, Mary & Martha, the hospital, church, and friends.

Freedom for me begins at home.  Keeping my home organized, tidy, and ready for anyone and anything that might come our way.  This has everything to do with my mindset.  Have you heard the acronym for C.H.A.O.S. before?  “Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome?”  I have been a victim to this on many occasion.  Where I might have missed an opportunity to serve or bless someone else because I just didn’t have it together at home.  Whether my house was a mess, the laundry out of control, no food in the fridge or the freezer or pantry, little sleep, and the list goes on and on.  I have run crazy to prepare for events in our home that I so love to do.  Having people in my home is my love language.  But sometimes I get overwhelmed in my “C.H.A.O.S.” state.  FREEDOM is lost because I am out of control.

To implement this for 2015, I have to do a few things that I have started implementing.

1.)  Get enough sleep and take care of myself.  Carving out time for devotions.  Guarding against overbooking.  Realizing my “BEST Yes” and sticking to it.  Saying “no” to some good things.  Starting a bible study.

2.)  Take care of my family.  Stay on top of the laundry.  Meal plan and prepare.  Always look to the weeks ahead.  Enforce tidyness in their rooms, car, and around the house with reminders and privileges.

3.)  Pray over my Mary & Martha team.  Listen and discern for opportunities.  Work my business in some way every day.  Set boundaries.

4.)  Be present.  In the moment with the people I love most.  Making the most of these days with Steve and my kids that are a gift.  Not guaranteed.  No regrets.

So, when December 31, 2015 rolls around…I hope to have had many, many people in my home.  Without stress.  Prepared.  Freedom to be in the moment with family and friends.  Organization that helps lead me to saying “yes” because I can and I want to.  And the more I think about this plan, the more I think about our mantra for Mary & Martha.  Living in the “&”.  That’s what I want.

The freedom to be Mary because my Martha has taken care of the rest.

best shopping day of the year…

This is such a fun day!  I don’t do Black Friday shopping in the stores, but I DO love the day after Christmas shopping in the stores.  Love the sales on Christmas items and getting things for CHEAP to use for next year.  So, my girls and I are on our way—but I wanted to let you in on the Mary & Martha sale as well.  I am putting orders in all weekend, just call, text, or email to save yourself some shipping costs (if you’re local) OR you can shop directly, see link above.  These items are ON THEIR WAY OUT!!  The double sided puzzle is a definite FAVE of mine and I am sad it’s going.  Now is the time to stock up.

20141226-095454-35694963.jpgHope you had a wonderful Christmas!

Happy Shopping!

Of course, the is my favorite of all time…

Just when I thought I could not love this any more, I listened to this video on how the whole story in song came to be.  The most powerful of this production is that it is all through song.  Now add some children in to act out the story…

I am in love.

1.)  The Story Behind Behold the Lamb of God

2.) These two songs–amazing.

3.)  I have learned how to embed videos into this blog, instead of the “click here” with a link.  I apologize, I am going a bit crazy and just a tad proud of myself…  HA!  😉

4.)  These boys looking intense at their tournament, don’t  you think?  Pure joy from those two basketball buddies.  I never asked what was so funny–because I am pretty sure I do NOT want to know.          bballfriends

5.)  Our church has provided gifts for two families of kids–so excited they are going to wake up to everything on their wish list!!   And a gift of sweet Baby Ruth to snuggle each Sunday morning

   journeygifts babyruth

6.)  And another gift…my Mary & Martha team.  I was getting my Christmas greetings ready to send to them and couldn’t help but think that this time last year, there were just a handful who joined me in this business and ministry.  And this year, it took me most of my morning to get these all ready to send!!  I am overwhelmed with gratitude for this special group of women sharing Jesus in the home with many across the United States!!

7.)  Carolers.

5.)  Chocolate Peppermint Whoopie Pies

I have had more fun making whoopie pies  this year.  It’s weird.  I never make whoopie pies.  But, they freeze really well and paired with our cuter than cute foil pans, I can pull them out of the freezer on a whim.  Like I did for those precious carolers above.  (now, they probably had to split them in half for everyone to have a bite…oops.)

6.)  Mary & Martha foil pans.  Need I say more?  They are cute.

foilpans7.)  Speaking of carolers.  Our annual caroling party is coming up.  This started because when we first started having kids, I began dreaming of how to make Christmas magical for them.  And for me, a caroling party with friends and family blessing others with singing, and then celebrating the season together was what it was for me.  And Steve got on board.  And our families got on board.  And our friends got on board.  And 12 years later, I finally figured out a fun invitation… (SMILEBOX may be my new addiction)

be a celebration of God’s love…

I have been praying about how I can use Mary & Martha to bless others.  It usually does not take me long to figure out what to do.  Whether it’s a certain product with it’s meaningful message.  Or if it’s offering specials to all of you so you can bless others with meaning this Christmas.

I have to admit.  I am just stuck.  We have 3 days left of ordering to get your products for Christmas.  I have specials I’m planning for the week before Christmas (STAY TUNED!!!), but what can I do these next few days?

Honestly, I don’t know who it is that I am blessing…yet.  I don’t know how much it will be that I can bless with.

For the next 3 days, all sales earnings will be going to a family in need.  I believe God will show me who that is as.  And I have to have my eyes open, my ears listening, and be ready to act.

For you all, I am offering FREE SHIPPING and 25% off from now through Monday, December 15th.  I could go on and on about our different products and what I love about each…but I’m guessing you know a lot about that already.  If there’s something you’ve been wanting to get for Christmas, now is your chance at a great price with a chance to bless others as well.  Must order directly through me to take advantage of this offer.

christmas blessing

it’s what Christmas is all about.

it’s what Christmas is all about.

I’m not sure why it blessed me so much, but it did.  Not that I have a guaranteed Mary & Martha sale.  Not that he thought of me and my business as something his wife would like.

It is ALL about his genuine spirit of thinking about his wife.  He told me he had tried contacting me all last weekend.  Even came to my house.  Why does this bring me to tears?  I don’t know.  But I do know, it’s what Christmas is all about.  Pouring love into others.  And I believe that’s exactly what this man is doing.  And I’m going to do my best to make sure it is a gift she will love, from the heart of her husband.  And you know what is going to bless this woman more than any gift I will wrap and get ready for her?  When I tag her in this post after Christmas.  This is perhaps the very best part of my job.

Homemade Kit Kat Bar–Friday Faves!

20141205-052524-19524692.jpg1.)  Keeping our home mouse/rat/rodent free.  Thank you Nike and Heidi.  Our cats have definitely been in the “gifting” spirit this season.  I am not kidding, it’s 3-4 ‘kill’ a day.  I think maybe Steve should take them deer hunting next time.

2.)  I love driving up to the driveway to find him doing what he loves most.  In shorts, a sweatshirt, and winter fleece hat.  Anything to shoot a few hoops after school.

20141205-052523-19523801.jpg20141205-052522-19522961.jpg3.)  In Children’s Ministry this month, we are getting ready to kickoff a month of COMPASSION with some exciting things happening this next Sunday.  Can’t wait to bless some kiddos with Christmas gifts, who otherwise might not have anything under the tree.

4.)  The Very “Merry” and Martha Christmas Party Open House

So many faves all wrapped into one evening.  GIRL time with FRIENDS. (and some I haven’t seen for so long!!)  Making NEW FRIENDS.  Baking.  Christmas music.  Time with my team.  This one evening fills me up more than words can say.  And for this, I thank Mary & Martha.  It provides me a wonderful opportunity to open my home to women.

5.)  Homemade Kit Kat Bars

This is one of my favorite recipes to make during the holiday season.  I have A LOT of favorite recipes I reserve for this time of year, but this one is so perfect for freezing and pulling out anytime you need a special treat.  In fact, I made 3 recipes of this and my gals last night maybe ate a 1/3 of one pan.  Lots for the freezer!

20141205-052623-19583093.jpgI am sharing at the Weekend Potluck today!

Homemade Kit Kat Bars

Ingredients: (A simple list!)

1 Box Club Crackers, 1 Box Graham Crackers, White Sugar, Brown Sugar, Butter, Milk, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chips, Butterscotch Chips

Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper.  Lay out Club Crackers in a single layer.

Crush graham crackers to equal 1 cup.  Melt 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup milk, and 1 cup graham crackers on the stove.  Heat to boiling while stirring continuously for 3 min.  Remove from stove.  Cover your club crackers.

Next, add another single layer of club crackers.

Stir together on stove 1 cup chocolate chips, 2/3 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup butterscotch chips just until melted and creamy.  Pour over club crackers.

Refrigerate until hardened.

Try not to eat them all.

20141205-052623-19583960.jpgLike I said, these are absolutely WONDERFUL to freeze and pull out for later.  If I were you, I would stock your freezer right this minute.  You won’t be sorry.  Teacher gifts, Christmas goodie plates, neighbor gifts…you name it!

6.)  The Ampersand

I had a couple of awesome Mary & Martha team members with me last night.  And one in particular, is pretty darn crafty.  As is her hubby.  I joke, although it’s COMPLETELY TRUE, that everyone needs a “Greg” in their life.

These Ampersand Glitter Ornaments were our gift to all of our guests last night.  I adore them.  Besides how cute they are, I LOVE that people know what that little ampersand means.  That little ampersand has some BIG meaning.  And thanks to Mary & Martha people are beginning to recognize the meaning we have for this little symbol.

Living in the ‘&’.

Loving God AND Loving Others.

A business AND a ministry.

Combining work AND faith.
